Revisiting time as a trade barrier: Evidence from a panel structural gravity model

چکیده
In this paper, we revisit the evidence on effects of time spent border-crossing procedures for international trade using a theory-consistent structural gravity model. We exploit rich panel dataset including domestic flows and employ recent econometric estimator that exhibits favorable asymptotic properties inference. The results indicate significant negative effect required border is driven by needed document preparation. find an additional day those corresponds to ad valorem tariff equivalent 0.4 percentage points. parameters our model are used simulate three counterfactual scenarios, quantifying past potential future facilitation efforts middle-, low-, high-income countries. Trade Potential of Turkey with Asia-Pacific Countries: Evidence from Panel Gravity Model
As a result of recent developments, global economic centre of gravity has slide to Asia-Pacific region. It is predicted that Asia-Pacific countries will take place at the first row in global trade and nearly a half of the total trade will intensify in this region at the year 2030. On the other hand, the region covers countries from different levels of development. These features of the region p...
متن کاملA Panel Data Analysis of South Korea’s Trade with OPEC Member Countries: The Gravity Model Approach
Abstract T his paper explains bilateral trade patterns between South Korea and thirteen OPEC member countries over the period 1980-2014 using a gravity model. The estimation results show that the gravity equation fits the data reasonably well. We confirmed the existence of long term relationships between the bilateral trade flows and the main components of gravity model - ...

متن کاملCombining time DEA scores using a dynamic panel data model
We define a combined DEA score to evaluate efficiency in agricultural research. The production model we propose considers efficiency measurements under variable returns to scale for each year in the period 2012–2017. We postulate a first-order autoregressive process in the presence of covariates, to explain efficiency. Powers of the autocorrelation coefficient estimated assuming a dynamic panel...
